Claude ran out of messages? Carry the chat over to ChatGPT

Echoes Desktop packs a conversation and opens it in another AI, so you keep working when one platform hits its limit.

1 min read

You are 40 messages into a Claude chat about a migration plan and Claude tells you to come back in four hours. Starting over in ChatGPT means pasting the background again, and the chat is too long to copy by hand. Echoes Desktop does the copying for you.

How it works

Open the conversation menu and choose Continue in, then pick the AI you want. Echoes builds a text "context pack" from the chat. If the whole chat fits the target AI's message box, the pack holds all of it. If not, it holds a summary plus the latest messages.

Before anything leaves, you see a preview. You can add your highlights and notes, change how many recent messages go, and edit the text. Echoes then opens a new chat on the target platform and pastes the pack. It does not press Send. You read it and send it yourself.

Any two of seven

The handoff works between any pair of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek and Google AI Studio. A few uses besides message limits:

  • Ask a second AI to check the first one's answer.
  • Move a research chat from Perplexity to Claude for the write-up.
  • Try the same problem on a model that is better at code.

Limits

  • Images and files do not carry over, only text.
  • Perplexity takes the shortest pack, about 12,000 characters.
  • If the pack is too long, Echoes trims the oldest parts first.
  • This is in Echoes Desktop only. The Chrome extension does not have it.

Download Echoes Desktop for Windows, macOS or Linux, then follow the continue in another AI tutorial.
